As a Social Worker for the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic in the Battle Creek VA Health Care Delivery System, including its Community Based Outpatient Clinics and Wyoming Heath Care Center , you are responsible for providing individual and group therapy and other clinical need as approved by your clinical privileges, scope of practice and as appropriate to support the implementation of social work programs. You are required to exercise independent judgment and decision making in the mental health treatment and formulation of the Veteran's treatment plans. You are expected to function both independently and/or as a collaborating member of the treatment team. You must have extensive skills in obtaining and utilizing both VA and Community resources and applying them in the Veterans recovery process. Your additional responsibilities include an ongoing assessment of Veteran's progress and treatment, as your position focuses on supporting the safety of the Veteran and others, assessment, intervention, recovery and maintenance of their mental health and welfare as well as case management where indicated and appropriate. You are also to instruct, direct and support the Veteran in obtaining and utilizing the available internal and external resources and support systems to achieve these goals.
Your duties will include, but not be limited to:
Provide evaluations for outpatients and apply evidence-based intervention strategies to a full range of patient problems in an outpatient mental health clinic setting;
Provide case management services where indicated;
Provide direct patient care and consultation services of difficult or complex cases;
Interact and work with clinicians from other disciplines as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team;
Determine patients' needs for evaluation, diagnostic procedures, individual and group psychotherapy, and case management;
As a fully licensed and privileged social worker provide a full range of comprehensive, efficacious and evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions, including individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapy as well as interview based and psychological testing based assessments;
Provide education to patients, family member, and significant others regarding relevant psychological material.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The nature of the role will require being available for extended hours and emergent situations on evenings and weekends, based upon the needs of our Veterans and the Medical Center.
